What is Your Number One Value?

So what is it?  What is your number one value? Well I am going to tell you…you know when they say there isn’t a right or wrong answer to something like this…well I would really have to disagree.  No matter where you are, what you do for a living, how much money you have, how much money you DON’T have, how many children you have, who your married to, how many hours you work, etc. etc. etc…I think you get the picture..….whatever the story it is that you tell yourself…..if you are not making your HEALTH your number one value then I highly recommend you read this post.

I have been on a 15 year journey in search of the perfect healthy lifestyle and I have always considered myself a very healthy person…but during this journey I not only learned about how to be TRULY healthy, I also realized that up until a year ago I was not placing my health and vitality as my number one priority.  I was at a seminar where we went through the exercise of listing your values in order.  I was excited to do this exercise because I actually thought I had my priorities straight…My original list went like this:

  1. Love

  2. Happiness

  3. Health

  4. Career

  5. Contribution

  6. Spirituality

Now if you look at my list…it does look pretty right on….but as we discussed with our partners why they were in the order they were I had realized that I had health third…. HEALTH THIRD?? So let me get this straight…I can love and be happy but be unhealthy.  No that actually does NOT work…if I do not take care of myself I CANNOT do ANYTHING ELSE on that list.  As my father would tell me when I was 10 years old “If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.”  Obviously at 10 years old that did NOT make a whole heck of a lot of sense to me but as I got older I totally understood what he was saying…and even then I still was not putting health completely FIRST.  So I was challenged to either standby my list or reprioritize my list and then live actually it.  This is what is looked like after:

  1. Health and Vitality

  2. Love

  3. Happiness

  4. Career

  5. Contribution

  6. Spirituality

So I think the moral of this story is quite obvious: Health should be everyone’s number one value.  I know eating green, working out and being conscious of what you are putting into your mouth is difficult…I am not saying it isn’t, but I do know that putting a little effort in each day to avoid serious health issues later is well worth it!  All the other areas of your life will suffer without you taking care of you first!

I hope that what I am saying can shed some light on this area for you, especially if you are one not putting your health first.  With my experience I know I can help so if you need some guidance I would be honored to help you.  I know it can be overwhelming and it is difficult to even know where to begin.  But it SO worth it.

Here’s to being healthy and vital my friends.

To your health,

Eleni
